Netaji's Declassified Files Might Have 'Some Facts Missing'

Online Desk

In the historic move by the Government of West Bengal of the declassification of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose files some important documents were allegedly missing.

It is being 'assumed' that a set of 12 files presented to Justice Mukherjee Commission, investigating the case in 2001 was completely missing in the declassification by West Bengal government.

In an interview with The Times of India, a researcher, Jayanta Chowdhury said, a total of 61 files were sent to the Mukherjee Commission but now the government has come up with 64 files, out of which most of them do not match to those presented earlier.

Chowdhury claimed that the missing files might not only contain the foreign mail interception of Bose and his family but also the revolutionary activities of the Intelligence Branch in 1941 and 1942.

While some of the files on Netaji have been marked 'confidential', he said, a letter written to Frau Emilie Schenkl in Vienna posted on  June 16, 1953 was an important missing document from the declassified intercepts.
