TRS Gets Conditional EC Nod for Events in Bypoll-bound Khammam

HYDERABAD: The Election Commission today gave conditional permission to the ruling TRS in Telangana to hold its 15th plenary and a public meeting in Khammam district, where model code is in force for a bypoll next week.

In view of the model code of conduct prevailing in Khammam district due to by-election to Palair Assembly constituency, TRS had sought permission to conduct its 15th plenary and a public meeting on April 27 in Khammam town, a release from the Chief Electoral Officer's office said.

"Accordingly, the Election Commission has considered the matter and has allowed TRS to conduct the plenary and public meeting on April 27.

"The permission is subject to the condition that all the expenses in this respect are met by the party and no official machinery is used or involved in any of the arrangements and all ministers and the Chief Minister make no official visits to this function," the release said.

The bypoll, to be held on May 16, is is necessitated by the death of sitting Congress MLA from Palair R Venkata Reddy.
