BBMP Council Meet: BJP Corporators Protest Against Revised Tax Guidelines

Express News Service

BENGALURU: The BBMP Council meet on Friday began on a note of high drama as the BJP corporators sat on a protest against the revised property tax guidelines. The corporators from the opposition who were shouting slogans inside the Council hall, had locked the entrance of the hall, not allowing the Mayor and the ruling party members to enter the room.

Meanwhile, even as they vented their ire against the new regulations, they began tearing up pamphlets and threw it in the hall littering the place.

Speaking to mediapersons, Mayor Manjunath Reddy flayed the BJP members for their "unruly" behaviour. "There was one month time given for objections. What was the BJP doing then? Why didn't they ask questions? What they are doing today is not acceptable behaviour and is only for publicity," he said adding that if need be, he would even consider suspension of members who resorted to unruly behaviour.

On their part, the BJP members continued their protest and did not allow the Council meeting to commence.
