CPI urges TN Government to release Rajiv case convicts on parole

CHENNAI: CPI State secretary R Mutharasan on Thursday urged the State government to release all the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case on parole as a prelude to their permanent release.

Stating that the seven convicts would complete 25 years of imprisonment on June 11, Mutharasan recalled that the State Assembly had adopted a unanimous resolution urging the Centre to release them on humanitarian grounds. He also pointed out that there were legal avenues for releasing them.
