CBI questions Virbhadra in disproportionate assets case

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation questioned Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday for seven hours in connection with a case of disproportionate assets registered against him, his wife Pratibha Singh and others.

The agency has also summoned his family members to join the probe into the case and also asked the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister to be present when required for further questioning. Sources said that his son Vikramaditya has been summoned by the agency to join the investigation. Vikramaditya was earlier questioned by the agency wherein he had claimed that some of his assets were from money provided by his father.

“We have a foolproof case against him, his associates and partners in criminal conspiracy regarding the assets acquired in the name of his children and wife,” said a CBI officer, adding that Singh is not cooperating with the probe. The agency had initiated an inquiry which had allegedly showed that Singh, while serving as Union Minister during 2009-2012 , had allegedly accumulated assets worth `6.03 crore.
