Punjabi singer Satwinder Bitti joins Congress

She was inducted into the party by Singh in the presence of senior state party leaders.

CHANDIGARH: Renowned Punjabi singer and former hockey player Satwinder Bitti today joined Congress in presence of party's state chief Amarinder Singh and senior leaders.

She was inducted into the party by Singh in the presence of senior state party leaders including Sunil Jakhar, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Kewal Dhillon, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi and Sukh Sarkaria. Besides being a famous singer, Bitti has also represented Punjab and Air India at national level in Hockey. She belongs to Patiala.

Talking to reporters, she said that she had always been impressed by Amarinder Singh's leadership and reached the conclusion that only he can lead Punjab to progress and prosperity. She added that there is no motive or condition behind her decision of joining Congress. "I am very much concerned about Punjab and I am of firm belief that Captain Amarinder will become the Chief Minister and I decided to contribute my bit in this noble mission", Bitti said.

Welcoming her into the party, Singh said she will prove to be a great asset for the Congress as she has a great fan following among the youth for her outstanding talent. She is a cultural icon of Punjab whose talent is acknowledged internationally, he said.
