JNU Row: Loopholes in Delhi Government Report

Express News Service

NEW DELHI: The fact-finding report prepared by the AAP government, which does not have legal sanctity and which did not find anything adverse against Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, has many loopholes in it.

The inquiry committee failed to record statements of the accused students and strangely used videos from YouTube and Twitter rather than taking raw footage from the probe agency - Delhi Police. However, it states anti-national activities took place on JNU campus.

Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Kumar, in the “Fact-Finding Report on the Incident of Raising of Anti-National Slogans in JNU Campus on February 9, 2016,” says, “I also tried to interact with the students, who at a later date appeared in JNU after initial disappearance. But they conveyed ‘Thank You’ messages along with their unwillingness to share anything.” The alleged anti-national activity was organised by 10 students and a guest lecturer of Ambedkar University - all members of the DSU. Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya, Banojyotsna Lahiri, Reyaz-ul-Haq and his wife Rubina Saifi, Komal Bharat Mohite, Ashwati, Anwesha, Anjali Jha, Bhawana Bedi and Samar refused to give any statement before the AAP government’s inquiry committee.
