NEW DELHI: As many as 127 women were lynched after being branded as witches in Jharkhand between 2012 and 2014, Parliament was informed on Wednesday.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau, a total of 26, 54 and 47 murder-for-witchcraft cases were reported in the State in 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively, Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said in reply to a written question in the Rajya Sabha.
