Khattar Orders Judicial Probe into Jat Violence 

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday ordered a judicial inquiry into last month’s Jat quota violence. While a police official has been dismissed under Article 311(2)(b) of the Constitution, the government has placed under suspension one IG and two DSPs and initiated further action against them, he informed the Assembly. Speaking in the Assembly, HJC leader Kuldeep Bishnoi claimed rioters in Jhajjar raped a mother-daughter duo during the February’s protests. And Finance Minister Capt Abhimany said he was ready to undergo a narco analysis or a polygraph test for the satisfaction of those raising questions regarding his role in the Jat agitation.

Absconding Hit & Run Accused Surrenders

TMC leader and former RJD MLA and Mohammad Sohrab, accused in the hit-and-run incident that killed an IAF corporal during a Republic Day parade rehearsal here, surrendered on Tuesday and was granted bail. Sohrab fled the State after his son Sambia drove his Audi car into a parade rehearsal outside Fort William on January 13, killing IAF Captain Abhimanyu Gaud. The Army’s Eastern Command along with the IAF set up a joint board and ordered a court of inquiry. Sambia was arrested after four days, and his two friends who had helped him escaped from the State.
