Here's how online and mobile apps marketed the demonetisation

While the nation reacted in shock, confusion and amazement at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of making Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes illegal, it leveraged the mobile and online cashless platforms to come up with a new marketing strategy. 

A message circulated by Blue Stone jewelers read: 'A 500 today, 0 tomorrow. 5gms gold today, 5gms gold forever! And we're open till midnight and beyond! Buy Gold CoinsNow.'

As Reserve Bank of India addressed a press conference post the Prime Minister's address, they deliberated over the aspect that all cashless, plastic and wire transactions would remain unaffected by the new changes. 

Zomato, a popular online food service also put up an alert disabling the option of payment of cash on delivery. 

Similar mobile applications like Ola and PayTm decided to use this news as their marketing strategy to nudge people into going cashless on their apps.
