VIJAYAWADA: In a bid to address the issues surrounding demonetisation, the Centre is reportedly unveiled plans to convene a panel of chief ministers from five states. While the members of the panel are yet to be finalised, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been reportedly asked to head the panel.
According to the AP chief minister's office, union finance minister Arun Jaitley had telephoned the chief minister and requested him to head the chief ministers' panel that would deal with issues pertaining to demonetisation. The panel would examine the problems being faced by public and make suggestions for resolving them. So far, there is no clarity on the members of the chief ministers’ panel as well as time decided for the panel to make the suggestions.
It may be recalled that the union finance minister announced in the Parliament a couple of days ago that Andhra Pradesh was in the forefront in promoting the cashless transactions. He added the State government was quickly responding to the issues in a bid to minimise the inconvenience to people.
Interestingly, it was Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who proposed for a panel of chief ministers, urging the Centre to take the chief ministers of different states into confidence in solving the problem and ensure better coordination.
