BHUJ: The Border Security Force (BSF) today seized a Pakistani fishing boat abandoned about 400 metres on the Indian side at Harami Nala area of Kutch district near the Indo-Pak border, officials said.

Four fishermen on that boat ran towards Pakistan side after spotting BSF patrol boats this morning in the creek area, said the officials.

The boat is around 25 feet long and fitted with a Chinese made engine, the officials added.

During the initial search of the boat, BSF found one fishing net and four ice boxes. Detailed search of the boat is underway, they said.

In the recent past, several fishing boats, as well as Pakistani fishermen, have been caught while fishing on the Indian side of the creek area.

Given the sensitive nature of the area, even Indian fishermen are barred from catching fish in the creek.

However, Pakistani fishermen often venture into Indian waters to catch fish, especially prawns and then sail off to their side.
