NEW DELHI: Delhi’s Health Department submitted its initial report on Tuesday and found the hospital and two doctors guilty, and said “doctors treating the newborn twins didn’t conduct ECG required to declare them dead”. It added there were multiple lapses by doctors and Max Hospital. The three-doctor probe panel will submit it’s final report this weekend.

Delhi Police have prepared 20 questions for a dozen Max Hospital staff and doctors who were involved in the treatment of the twins. “Our focus is to know the process of declaring someone dead. The two doctors, whose services have been terminated by the hospital, will also be questioned. We will call the complete team of the operation theatre that was responsible for monitoring the baby in the ICU,” a senior police official said.

The incident was reported on December 1 when one of the twins (a boy and a girl) born prematurely was declared dead by doctors at Max Super Specialty Hospital, Shalimar Bagh. The boy was found alive by his family just before his cremation. On December 2, Delhi Police registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the father under Section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the IPC.
