Rag-picker finds demonetised currency in bushes

RISHIKESH: Demonetised currency worth Rs 9.80 lakh was found on Friday by a rag-picker from the bushes along the banks of the river Ganga, said police.
 
Uttam Tharu, a Nepali rag picker, saw the old Rs 500 notes scattered behind the bushes along the river-bank under the jurisdiction of Muni-ki-Reti police station, said SHO Ravi Kumar Saini.
 
"The rag-picker brought the amount in a packet and handed it over to us. The notes are worth Rs 9.80 lakh," he said, adding that investigations are underway.
