Punjab court issues fresh summons against CM Amarinder Singh in I-T case

Amarinder is facing accusations of making false statements, and willful omission in providing required information to the I-T department and obstructing its officials from performing their duties.

LUDHIANA: A court here issued fresh summons to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today in an income tax case.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Jaapinder Singh ordered issuing of fresh summons in a criminal complaint of 2016 that the I-T department had filed against Amarinder.

The court was told that summons earlier sent to the chief minister could not be served after which fresh summons were issued, and the next hearing in the case was posted for September 18.

Amarinder is facing accusations of making false statements, and willful omission in providing required information to the I-T department and obstructing its officials from performing their duties.

These allegations were made by the I-T department in a criminal complaint filed before the court earlier.
