NIA takes over custody of three held in Bhopal-Ujjain train blast

NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday took over the custody of three persons arrested in connection with the IED blast in Bhopal Ujjain passenger train after the agency registered a case on Tuesday.

The move comes after a Bhopal special court on Thursday granted 11-day custody of the three accused to the NIA.

The three arrested accused include Atif Muzaffar, Mohammad Danish and Syed Mir Hussain and the court allowed their custodial interrogation by NIA during the remand period.

“A team of NIA officials is camping in Bhopal for investigation of the case RC-04/2017/NIA/DLI,” an agency spokesperson said.

As many as ten passengers were injured, including serious injuries to three, after an IED exploded in the train in Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh on March 7.
