CHANDIGARH: Two men dressed as women opened fire at a rival gang, killing one person and injuring five, including a lawyer, outside the district court complex in Rohtak, on Monday morning. The two assailants fired fifteen rounds on rival gang members who had come to the court for case hearing, and fled.
“Their target was gangster Ramesh Lohar who had come to the court in an attempt to murder case,’’ said a police officer, adding that the person who died was identified as Sanjit, an accomplice of Lohar, who also sustained bullet injuries on his feet.
All the injured people, including the lawyer, were rushed to PGIMS, Rohtak. A large contingent of police personnel reached the spot and cordoned the court complex. The statements of eyewitnesses were recorded and a case has been registered against the unknown persons. Further investigations are on, and a manhunt has begun to nab the accused.
Prima facie, the incident appears to be the fallout of an ongoing gang war between Lohar and one of his rival’s Kala, said a police official.
