28 Dengue positive cases reported from South Sikkim

GANGTOK: More than 28 Dengue positive cases have been reported from Jorethang and its surrounding areas in South Sikkim district, official sources said today.

Doctors and nurses of Jorethang Community Health Centre are treating patients with dengue fever round the clock with utmost care and the situation is under control, a press release issued by the Information and Public Relations department said.

The Vector Borne Disease Control Programme Unit has already taken stock of the situation. Medical Officer Dr SN Adhikari has already conducted awarenees programmes on Degue at Jorethang Bazaar and Majhigaon Area, the sources said.

Fogging in high mosquito density areas of Majhigaon is going on under the supervision and direction of Chairman, NJMC, Tika Gurung and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Jorethang, B C Rai.

Patients are being referred to District Hospital , Namchi as and when situations so demands, the release added.
