Stale and spoilt food was found in a raid of Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's restaurant 'Jaddu's Food Field' in Rajkot, Gujarat on Friday. Jadeja's was among three restaurants inspected by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation.
A report by Times Now said that as much as 212 kg of eatables were found to be of poor quality. Expired food colouring and bread covered in mold, apart from rotten vegetables, were also found at Jadeja's restaurant.
According to a report in Ahmedabad Mirror, stale and rotten food were found in three restaurants in Rajkot, including Jadeja's Jaddu's Food Field and a McDonald's outlet. The rotten food was destroyed by the Corporation authorities.
The health team found expired breads in the McDonald's outlet.
The restaurants have been served a notice of four days to follow the rules and maintain the required hygiene standards.
Jaddu's Food Field, located on Kalavad Road in Rajkot, is being taken care of by Ravindra Jadeja's sister Nainaba.
"Yes we had some quantity of boiled and cooked food. Only a few pieces of bread had gone stale. We used to preserve cooked food, but now we will ensure it is destroyed the same night. Also, we did not have a crusher. We could not find it in the market, but will make arrangements now. The food colours were meant to be used only for vegetable carvings and not in food," Nainaba was quoted as saying by Ahmedabad Mirror.
Jadeja's restaurant has been in trouble earlier as well with civic authorities. In December last year, a store room and a kitchen that was constructed illegally as part of the restaurant was razed down by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation in a demolition drive.
