35 families marooned as check dam collapses in Maharashtra

MAHARASHTRA: A check dam in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar collapsed on Wednesday and resulted in the inundation in Arangaon village.

About 35 families were marooned in the village which is located on Ahmednagar-Ghargaon road in Ahmednagar district.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team was mobilised and they successfully rescued 30 people, including 15 males, 14 females and a child, who were marooned in Parit vasti of Walunj village.

Darkness, incessant rains were a big hurdle during the operation but braving the odds, the team was successful in evacuating all people.
