LUCKNOW: A banner carrying a strange message for the BJP leaders was spotted in Muslim dominated Sheikh Salim Phatak locality of Varanasi city on Monday. The message against the entry of BJP leaders in
the locality read: “Is mohalle mein BJP ke netaon aur karyakartaon ka aana mana hai kyuniki yahan mahilayen aur bachchiyan rehti hain (BJP leaders and workers are not supposed to come here as women and girls live in this locality)”.
Notably, such a banner coming up in the holy city, more so the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, came as discomfiture to the rank and files of saffron party. However, the banner is being seen in the wake of Unnao rape case in which the BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar has been named as an alleged accused.
The banner also carried the name of Ahmad Raza (Babu), who, the local sources claim, has alleged affiliation to the Samajwadi Party and he got the banner put in the locality in the darkness of night. However, as soon as the incident came to the notice of local police station area as its pictures went viral on social media, the cops swung into action and got it removed. Inspector Chetganj Rajiv Ranjan said that the banner had been removed and the outpost in-charge has been asked to trace the person who got it
displayed.
On Sunday such banners were noticed in certain localities of Allahabad but without any name on it. However, the local residents of the area and traders expressed their ignorance about the identity of Raza whose name was present on the banner.
Samajwadi Party city chief Rajkumar Jaiswal acknowledged Ahmed Raja as a party worker but he sought to distant the party from the banner and its content saying that SP had to do nothing with it.
