Amarnath Yatra: Jammu and Kashmir DGP visits highway takes review of security and traffic plans

The DGP listened to the grievances of pilgrims who were struck due to bad weather at various places on National Highway and assured them every possible help.

SRINAGAR:  Director General of Police (DGP) Dr SP Vaid visited Srinagar-Jammu national highway to review security and transport plans placed for the safety and free movement of Amarnath pilgrims, a police spokesman said on Saturday afternoon.

Dr Vaid visited District Ramban to take the review of the security and transport plans placed for the safety and hassle-free movement of the pilgrims on the national highway.

The DGP also heard the grievances of pilgrims who were struck due to bad weather at various places on National Highway and assured them every possible help.

Dr Vaid who was accompanied by District Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohan Lal, appreciated the work of Police personnel.

The  Amarnath Pilgrimage was resumed from Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu base camp this morning after remaining suspended for two days due to landslides on the highway and heavy rush of pilgrims at Baltal and Nunwan Pahalgam base camps.
