SHIMLA: Veteran journalist J N Sadhu passed away here this evening after prolonged illness.
Sadhu was 94.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, former chief minister Shanta Kumar and a host of leaders condoled Sadhu's death.
He worked with The Indian Express for nearly 35 years.
After his retirement, he was working as a freelance journalist.
He is survived by two sons, a daughter and grandchildren.
He was not well for the past one year and had stopped eating for the last three-four days, family sources said.
The Himachal unit of India Media Centre described the demise as a great loss to the state, saying an era of fearless journalism has come to an end with his death.
