RANCHI: Despite all measures being taken by the state government to check hunger deaths, one more person reportedly died of hunger at Punadaria village under Mandu block of Ramgarh district in Jharkhand. 40-year-old Chintaman Malhar was claimed to have died of starvation as he had no food to eat in his makeshift shelter.
Malhar's son Videsh, showing empty utensils in the makeshift tent, claimed that his father was hungry for the last few days and collapsed while trying to put a shack over the place where he lived in.
"I reached here at around 11:30 pm on Wednesday after which my father told me to make arrangements for the upcoming monsoon season and started putting shelter over the makeshift tent in the morning but collapsed and died due to intense sunlight at around 10 am," said Malhar's son.
In spite of having Aadhar card, they have not been issued ration card so far, he added. Even though, the administration denies hunger death in this case, Circle Officer Lalan Kumar rushed to Malhar's village and provided food grains to the family and Rs 5000 as immediate financial assistance.
