MUMBAI:  Sharad Kalaskar, the accused in Nalasopara arms hauls case, was on Monday remanded in judicial custody till 29 September in relation to the probe into his alleged role in the anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabholkar's murder in 2013.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had last week stated in Pune Session court that they need Kalaskar's custody to ascertain whether two other people were involved in the case, who helped the assailants identify Dabholkar, after which the court had granted them Kalaskar's custody for two days.

The CBI produced Kalaskar before the court as his custody with the investigation body ended today. He had been in the CBI custody since 10 September. The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had arrested Kalaskar on August 10 in connection with the seizure of arms and ammunition from Nalasoparan and other parts of the state.

Founder of the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (MANS), Dabholkar was shot by bike-borne assailants while returning home from a morning walk on 20 August, 2013.
