Four soldiers killed in two avalanche near LoC in north Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Four soldiers were killed in two snow avalanches along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. An army official said an avalanche struck the Eagle Post of 2 Jat Regiment of Indian Army in Tanghdar area close to LoC in Kupwara. Four soldiers were buried under the massive mass of snow.

“Of the four soldiers, Sepoy Avinash Kumar was rescued and shifted to Army’s 92 Base hospital in Srinagar,” Defence spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said.

The bodies of three soldiers, who were buried under the snow, were recovered around midnight.

The deceased soldiers were identified as Hawaldar Rajindra Kumar (Rajasthan), Sepoy Kamal Kumar (Rajasthan) and Sepoy Amit Singh (Haryana).In another incident, an avalanche hit an army patrol party at Dawar area in Bandipora district.
