NEW DELHI: The Indian Army is all set to witness major changes at the top level, which includes posts of the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) and one of the two Deputy Chiefs of Army Staff (DCOAS).
Sources said the Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane is to shift to army headquarters, Delhi, as the next vice chief of the Indian Army. He will be taking charge after the retirement of Lt Gen D Anbu on August 31.

According to seniority, Lt Gen Naravane is the senior most after the present Army Chief General Bipin Rawat. He is also in line to replace Gen Rawat as the next Army Chief when General Rawat retires on December 31 this year.

Lt Gen IS Ghuman is presently the DCOAS (Information Systems and Training) and he is slated to take charge of the Lucknow-based Central Command. He will replace Lt Gen Abhay Krishna, who retires on September 30.

Indian Army is organised into seven commands with its headquarters based out of South Block, Delhi. Once Lt Gen Naravane shifts Delhi from the Eastern Army Command, the current Director General Military Operation Lt Gen Anil Chauhan will take charge as the new Eastern Army Commander.

The Chandimandir-based Western Command, looking after a major portion of the India-Pakistan border, will be headed by Lt Gen R P Singh after Lt Gen Surinder Singh retires on July 31. The other senior officer shifting from Delhi is present Director General Military Training Lt Gen A S Kler. He will be heading the Jaipur-based South-Western Command.
