Accelerate inoculation drive in India first before sending COVID-19 vaccines outside: AAP

Express News Service

NEW DELHI: The AAP on Monday questioned the Centre’s decision to continue the export of Covid vaccines. National spokesperson of the party Raghav Chadha stated that as the pandemic is once again on the surge, the only weapon against it, the vaccine, is being exported to other countries while Indian are being “ignored”.

“India has thus far exported 64.5 million doses of Covid vaccine to 84 countries. It appears that what these countries think of PM Modi is more important than what India’s own people think of him. The Centre is ignoring the vaccine suraksha kavach to its own citizens,” said the AAP MLA.

While the AAP government has been demanding ease on vaccination norms by the Centre, the party has now launched an attack on it over the vaccine exports.

“At the current rate, it will take 15 years to vaccinate our entire population. Some scientists have said that if 70 per cent of Indians are vaccinated, Covid can be brought under control. If the drive continues at the same rate, the country will take 10 years to even reach that mark,” added Chadha.
