PK Mishra, Vishwanathan take oath as SC judges

The SC on Friday got two new judges as CJI DY Chandrachud administered oath to Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Senior Advocate KV Vishwanathan as SC judges.

NEW DELHI:   The SC on Friday got two new judges as CJI DY Chandrachud administered oath to Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Senior Advocate KV Vishwanathan as SC judges. 

The Centre notified the appointments of the duo late at night on Thursday irrespective of the Union Law Ministry undergoing a major rejig on the same day by assigning Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal independent charge of the Union law ministry and shifting Kiren Rijiju to the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

Minister of State for Law and Justice SP Singh Baghel was moved to the health ministry. 
With their appointment, the Supreme Court not only got new CJI (Justice KV Vishwanathan) who would take over the helm of affairs from Justice JB Pardiwala.
