BHUBANESWAR: Taking a strong view of negligence of two police officers, who had closed the case of acid attack on Pramodini Roul eight years ago, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday suspended them.

The then DSP RK Jena and Inspector Sankarshan Dalai were suspended by Naveen who also directed DGP Dr RP Sharma to initiate disciplinary proceedings against them.

Though the case took place in Tirtol in 2009, police closed the case with no arrest. When Roul met the CM recently and requested his intervention, the case was reopened and the main accused and his accomplice were arrested.

CM also directed the DGP to review progress of probe in cases of crime against women and children in different police stations and submit a report within 15 days.
