Pradhan wants to be brand ambassador of IIT-BBS

BHUBANESWAR: Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said IITs have made a huge contribution not only in the field of science and technology but also knowledge eco-system.


Addressing the 9th Foundation Day of Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (IIT-BBS), Pradhan said India in general and Odisha in particular has the ability to surpass any country in the world if institutions like IIT-BBS take up the challenge in providing leadership.


Pradhan called upon the students and faculty members to dream big and use their potentials so that the country can benefit. He also offered to be the brand ambassador of the institution to take it to further heights and challenged the students to be aggressive and vibrant.


Director of IIT-BBS Prof RV Raja Kumar said he looks forward to taking the institute to lofty standards and pledged that the IIT will contribute to development of society with dedicated students and faculty engagements.  


Director of NISER Prof V Chandrasekhar who delivered the foundation lecture spoke about journey of Dr CV Raman in discovering the Raman effect which eventually got him the Nobel prize.


Pradhan gave away the excellence awards to Yogesh Ganpat Bhoomkar (Assistant Professor, School of Mechanical Sciences), Mihir Pandit (Associate Professor, School of Mechanical Sciences), Arindam Sarkar (Assistant Professor, School of Infrastructure) and Kumkum Mohanty (Adjunct Faculty, School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management) for their contributions in innovative teaching and research based on the feedback received from the students.
