BARIPADA: Even as forest officials are yet to confirm the suspected animal behind the mass killing of sheep in Niali, a similar incident was reported from Aguad village under Barasahi police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday night.

Two sheep of Dillip Mohanta of the village were killed under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday night. Some villagers, who were returning home in the night, spotted two wolf-like animals dragging the sheep towards the forest while crossing the road. They searched the area and found the sheep on a crop field near the forest.

Mohanta said out of four sheep in his den, two were found missing on Wednesday morning. Panicked villagers have stopped sending their livestock to the grazing field after the incident. The village has around 70 sheep.

DFO of Baripada Sanjay Kumar Swain, Assistant Conservator of Forest Arun Kumar Patra along with forest officials from Betnoti range rushed to the spot and collected pugmarks.
