CUTTACK: Dengue is back in Cuttack. Stagnant water following three days of deluge in low-lying areas has led to outbreak of fresh cases of the disease posing a question mark on Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC).While an 11-year-old girl of Badambadi has been admitted to Sishu Bhawan after testing positive for dengue on Friday, a man of Arunoday Nagar was diagnosed with the disease two days back.
An unhygienic condition prevails in most of the 43 low-lying areas which faced severe inundation in this week’s rainfall. Residents of areas like Nua Bazaar, Jagatpur, Sutahat, Tulasipur, Potapola, Meiria Bazaar are still struggling with the artificial flooding. As on Friday, nearly 15 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in the special ward of SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Out of 60 blood samples tested on Friday, 10 have tested dengue positive which include three from n Jajpur, two each from Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur, and one each from Cuttack and Kendrapara districts.
