Debt-ridden farmer ends life in Dhenkanal 

A farmer, Kailash Nahak, allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide at his agriculture shed over repayment of hand loan and failure of crops at Talaborekote village on Monday.

BHUBANESWAR:  A farmer, Kailash Nahak, allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide at his agriculture shed over repayment of hand loan and failure of crops at Talaborekote village on Monday. 
He was rushed to Athagarh hospital where the doctor referred him to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital. 

He died at Cuttack on Tuesday. Family sources said he had taken a hand loan of `2 lakh and was growing crops in more than five acres of land as a share-cropper. Last year, his crops failed due to drought and this year, it was due to Titli. He was under pressure for the last 10 days to repay the loan. Tension ran high in the village after the death. Agriculture Department has sent staff to conduct an inquiry to ascertain the reason behind the suicide.
