New Delhi, Nov 8 (PTI) Dense smog continued to engulf thenational capital for the second day today, leaving peoplegasping for breath.
The visibility was recorded at 300 meters both at 5.30 AMand 8.30 AM.
The minimum temperature settled at 14 degrees Celsius,even as humidity levels were high.
The humidity was recorded at 98 per cent at 8.30 AM.
The Met office has forecast clear skies for the rest ofthe day.
"The maximum temperature is expected to hover at 30degrees Celsius," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperatures settledat 30 and 16.1 degrees respectively.
As a choking blanket of smog enveloped the nationalcapital yesterday, it prompted authorities to announce closureof primary schools and a four-fold hike in parking fees amonga series of sweeping measures.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also had announcedthat primary schools in the national capital will remainclosed today.
The Delhi government had also issued a health advisoryfor high risk people, including children, the elderly,pregnant women and those suffering from asthma and heartailments.
The EPCA has directed the municipal bodies in the regionto immediately enhance parking fees by four times andinstructed the Delhi Metro to lower fares during off-peakhours for at least 10 days, introduce more coaches and ensurefrequent services. PTI PLBDIP.
