NEW DELHI: Yuki Bhambri won his maiden International Tennis Federation (ITF) title, beating Vishnu Vardhan 7-6 (1), 6-4 in the $15,000 BHEL Futures at Delhi Lawn Tennis Association here on Saturday.

The junior Australian Open champion saw off a tough challenge from compatriot Vardhan in the first set but then raised his game to sail through the second set.

Playing in their first ITF final, both Yuki and Varhdan challenged each other in the first set.

Yuki broke Vardhan in the second game only to be broken back in the next.

Andhra boy Vardhan, who stunned top seed South African Raven Klaasen in the semi-final Friday, got a crucial break in the 11th game but could not hold his serve to close out the set.

Sixteen-year-old Yuki then served with power to run through the tie-breaker.

The Delhi boy controlled the second set and won the title with a break in the third game.
