NEW DELHI: Hockey India Thursday launched its own logo which resembles the Ashoka Chakra in the form of 24 hockey sticks forming a wheel.

The 24 spokes of Ashoka Chakra are the inspiration for the logo.

Hockey India president A.K. Mattoo, secretary general Mohammad Aslam, senior vice-president Vidya Stokes, chief coach Jose Brasa, coach Harendra Singh and skipper Sandeep Singh unveiled the logo.

'We are moving ahead with our work and it is part of that process,' Mattoo told reporters.

'We have got the recognition from the international body and we have to see that a unified body is at place. We are the hosts of 2010 World Cup and it is a huge responsibility. It is another feather in the cap of Hockey India,' he said.

HI was formed after the International Hockey Federation (FIH) asked India to merge its men's and women's associations and form a unified body as per the norms before the World Cup.

Asked about the sponsorship row with Sahara India, Mattoo said 'There is no sponsorship of Sahara with Hockey India.'
