KOLKATA: Prayag United moved into the 33rd Federation Cup football tournament semi-finals with a 2-0 victory over Sporting Clube De Goa here Thursday.
Denson Devadas drew first blood as early as in the fifth minute before Josimar Dasilva Martins doubled the lead in the 83rd minute.
Prayag wrapped up their Group D engagement with seven points from three games, while Mohammedan Sporting finished one point adrift.
Playing with a resolve and purpose at the Salt Lake stadium, Prayag started dominating from the initial minutes, as Sporting's famed rivals looked jittery.
Prayag did not have to wait for long for the goal, as a corner from Malsawm Tluanga was slotted home by Denson Devadas.
Sporting tried to come back, but missed some good chances.
Crossing over, Sporting tried hard to equalise but kept muffing chances that came their way.
Prayag got the insurance goal seven minutes before time as substitute Josimar Dasilva found the target. They will face East Bengal in the second semi-final to be played Monday in Kolkata.
