Sudanwa in second round

Sudanwa Sitaram  defeated Sidharth Rawat 6-1, 7-6 (4) to advance to the second round of the Indian Oil Servo Futures tennis tournament at the SDAT Tennis Stadium on Monday.

After cruising to a 6-1 win in the first set, Sidharth pushed him in the second and took the contest to the tiebreaker, which Sudanwa won.

Likewise, Jeson Patrombon of Philippines met with unprecedented resistance from Aditya Hari Sasongko of Indonesia. The latter, after conceding the opening set without winning a game, fought back to pouch the second 6-4. The decider was evenly poised before the Pilipino managed made a crucial break point to clinch the match.

RAMKUMAR EXCELS

R Ramkumar of India partnering Kirill Dmitriev of  Russia won the men’s Futures doubles title in Izmir, Turkey. They beat the French pair of Julien Demois and Yanais Laurent 6-2, 6-2  in the final.  The 17-year-old Ramkumar trains at the Sanchez Casal Academy under the TNTA’s Advanced Player Development Scheme.
