Yuki Bhambri Bows Out of Australian Open

Yuki Bhambri suffered a major setback in the Australian Open after a straight-set defeat against Tomas Berdych in the opening round.

BRISBANE: Star Indian tennis player Yuki Bhambri suffered a major setback in the Australian Open after a straight-set defeat at the hands of the sixth-seed Tomas Berdych in the opening round of the tournament on Monday.

The Czech professional claimed a 7-5, 6-1, 6-2 win over Yuki at the Margaret Court Arena to enter the second round of the major.

Berdych has an impressive record at the Australian Open as he managed to reach at least the quarterfinals in his last five appearances.

Meanwhile, seventh-seed Kei Nishikori has also advanced to the second round after beating Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.
