Commonwealth Games 2018: Cyclists Aleena Reji, Deborah Herold exit Keirin repechage qualifiers

Aleena finished fourth in repechage Heat 1, after consuming 0.732 seconds more than England's Lauren Bate, who topped the heat and qualified for the second round.

GOLD COAST: Indian cyclists Aleena Reji and Deborah Herold crashed out of women's Keirin first round repechage qualifiers at the 21st Commonwealth Games here on Sunday.

Aleena finished fourth in repechage Heat 1, after consuming 0.732 seconds more than England's Lauren Bate, who topped the heat and qualified for the second round.

Deborah too had a poor outing, finishing at the penultimate spot in repechage Heat 2. She found herself to be 0.221 seconds more than the topper, New Zealand's Olivia Podmore.

Earlier, Aleena posted time of 17.12700 in 200 metre to stand fifth in Heat 1, 5.773 seconds adrift of the quickest cyclist Natasha Hansen.

In Heat 2, Deborah registered a time of 11.801 seconds to stand fourth, 0.451 seconds behind the quickest cyclist Stephanie Morton.
