CHENNAI: MRF Limited on Thursday announced the list of drivers for the MRF Formula 1600 event to be held here on Sunday.

This is the first time Indian youngsters will get an opportunity to drive powerful 1600cc international spec cars.

Drivers who show promise will be short-listed for future international championships.

The list of drivers includes, seven Indians and two Sri Lankans who will battle it out for supremacy.

Gokul Krishna, Ajay Kini, Ashwin Sundar, Goutam Parekh, Amer Beg, Arjun Balu and Nischay Jayeshankar will be the Indian drivers to compete in the event. Pasindu Peiris and Manneendra Amadoru (both Sri Lanka) complete the line-up.

All young drivers were selected jointly by MRF Limited and MMSC on the basis of future potential. The MRF Formula 1600 is an entry-level racing car for drivers after they have completed their karting experience.
