COLOMBO: Sri Lanka has dropped limited overs vice-captain Thilina Kandamby for the home series against Australia next month.

Kandamby paid the price for his below-par performances during Sri Lanka's tour to England when the 20-man squad was announced on Thursday, but Tillakaratne Dilshan was retained as captain.

Dilhara Fernando, who picked up an injury in the third test against England and subsequently missed the ODI series, was also left out of the squad for five one-day internationals and two Twenty20s starting Aug. 6.

Leg-spinner Malinga Bandara was recalled after an 18-month absence while batsman Chamara Kapugedera is also back after being dropped against England.

Off-spinner Sachitra Senanayake is the only uncapped player in the squad.

Sri Lanka will also play three tests against Australia.
