CASTELLON: Newly-signed Villarreal midfielder Santiago Caseres said on Tuesday that he is looking forward to developing his skills in La Liga football championship.

Villarreal brought in the 21-year-old Argentine to fill the role left by Rodrigo "Rodri" Hernandez Cascante, who moved to Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window, reports Efe.

"I'm very excited to play at Villarreal, it's a club that's committed to ball possession, and that fits perfectly with my playing style. I'm coming here with an immense desire to improve as a soccer player," Caseres said, speaking at his first press conference after signing on a five-year deal from Argentine club Velez Sarsfield.

Caseres reiterated that his arrival at Villarreal is a "unique challenge" for him, so he aims to work hard to help the team and earn "the affection of the fans from the first day".

At the presentation ceremony, Villarreal CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles highlighted the midfielder's talent and potential.

"We've placed a strong bet on him. We believe that despite his youth, he can help us a lot. The objective is for him to grow with Villarreal and become an important part of the team," Negueroles said.
