Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard will not be weighed down by the club record 9 million pounds ($11.94 million) transfer fee the Scottish Premiership side paid for him, captain Scott Brown has said.

Edouard, who spent last season with the Scottish champions on loan from PSG, signed a four-year permanent deal on Friday and the fee is behind only the 12 million pounds Glasgow rivals Rangers paid for Tore Andre Flo in 2000.

“He’s a terrific finisher and it’s great to have him here for the next few years,” Brown told British media.

“The record fee won’t bother him – there’s always a weight of expectation when you come to Celtic anyway.”

Edouard, 20, scored 11 goals in 29 appearances last season.
