KOLKATA: Dutch legends Patrick Kluivert and Frank de Boer would be among a host of world cuppers expected to be seen in action as former stars of Spanish giant FC Barcelona clash with Mohun Bagan here on September 28, the organisers said on Sunday.

The match, dubbed 'Clash of legends', would be played in Kolkata's iconic Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, that hosted several high-voltage matches of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, including the final.

Among the stars of yesteryears slated to feature in the line up of the Catalan club for the match are Netherlands' world cupper Edgar Davids, French defensive midfielder Eric Abidal and Brazilian central defender Edmilson.

Stating that the history and legacy of both clubs date back to more than a century, Mohun Bagan Secretary Anjan Mitra termed the opportunity as an honour for the city giants.

"It will be an honour to face a club like FC Barcelona that is rated amongst the topmost clubs in the world. We might not match them in terms of heavyweight footballers they have, but we are no less in terms of football history," Mitra, who was present at the official announcement of the match, said.

"It is also a wonderful opportunity for the football crazy people of Kolkata to witness their heroes play," he added.

Former Brazilian footballer Jose Ramirez Barreto, who played many memorable matches for the green and maroon brigade, will turn out for them once more.
