KOLKATA:  England coach Steve Cooper was among those who praised India’s performance in the U-17 World Cup. He spoke highly of the home team’s tenacity, while saying that football culture in the country can really kick on from here. 

“We made it a point to watch the hosts in action. I also made our players watch. Once you respect the home nation, you truly understand the significance of this tournament. The results may not have gone India’s way, but the people must be very proud. The coach has created an identity and now it is up to the Indian FA to build around it.”
