After Captain, it is time for one more sports biopic. A movie will soon be made on the life of athlete PU Chitra. The Mumbai-based filmmaker Praveen ID will helm the project, which will be scripted by PV Shajikumar. According to the director, this biopic will be different from the ones that we have seen. "Most were made after the athlete had achieved a lot, but Chitra's will be different because it is about a struggle to survive," he says.
Praveen adds that he was inspired to make the movie after he witnessed the fire in her. "I am not a sportsperson, so I had no idea about her. Only when the recent controversies happened, did I notice her. When I met Chitra, her spirit amazed me. Despite odds and snubs, she has a fire in her which helps her to move on. She is our next Olympic dream.
For Chitra, this struggle is worth it," he adds.
The director says he is talking with actors for the movie. "A new face will be playing Chitra. But, we are in talks with major stars for other prominent characters," he says.
