HYDERABAD: BJP State president B Dattatraya urged the Assembly Speaker KR Suresh Reddy to review his judgment disqualifying three TRS rebel MLAs and accepting the resignations of six others.

He urged the Speaker to disqualify all the nine TRS rebel MLAs who violated the Anti Defection Law 1986.

In an open letter to Speaker, Dattatreya said that Speaker’s judgment generated a lot of debate in the State.

Even though Speaker called it a trend-setting judgment, all the Opposition parties, media and the legal experts differed with Speaker’s view, he said. Six of the nine MLAs submitted their resignations in a dramatic manner.

Within a span of 24 hours, Speaker delivered the judgment that all the 9 MLAs have committed a crime. But, he accepted the resignations of six MLAs and disqualified three others, Dattatreya said.

“Legally, logically and ethically your judgment has left a stigma on the very institution of the Speaker” the BJP leader said.
