HYDERABAD: In an interesting development, Maddilacheruvu Suryanarayana alias Suri, facing trial in the Partiala Ravindra murder case and who is accused by the Opposition TDP of masterminding the killing of Moddu Seenu, on Tuesday raised slogans in favour of his Shishya, and walked into the Anantapur sessions court shouting at the top of his voice ‘‘Seenu Amar Rahe.’’ But no sooner did he do so than co-accused in the case, Patolla Govardhan Reddy, handed over a letter to the judge stating that it was Suri who got Moddu Seenu murdered.
While Seenu and other accused were raising slogans on the court premises, Patolla Govardhan Reddy even broke down and vowed to avenge Seenu’s death. Once in the court, he urged the judge to give him two hours so that he could give a detailed account of Seenu’s murder. The court, however, gave him an hour during which time, he wrote his version and handed it over to the judge.
It’s learnt that in the letter, addressed to the Chief Justice of the High Court, Patolla Govardhan Reddy claimed that it was at Suri’s instance that Mallela Om Prakash was moved to Seenu’s barrack in the Anantapur district jail. He further alleged that Rayalaseema Jails DGP Sunil Kumar was aware of the complicity of Anantapur district jail authorities and named jail officials Rambabu, Chiranjeevi, Varuna Reddy, Lakshmi Narsaiah as conspirators.
The TDP has all along been accusing Suri of ‘disposing of ’ Seenu as he had threatened to spill the beans about the involvement of the powers that be in the Congress.
It has been demanding a judicial probe by a sitting judge.
But the State Government rejected the demand on Tuesday, notwithstanding the Chief Minister’s earlier statement that they were open to any inquiry. Finance Minister Rosaiah told newsmen here that since the High Court had earlier expressed its inability to spare judges, the government would not request the services of a sitting judge again.
Meanwhile, in Guntur, an autopsy was conducted on Seenu’s body after a heated argument between the doctors and Seenu’s kin who insisted that they be allowed to witness it. The doctors had their way finally.
